Together with the local community, we indigenize education.

On-the-land activities

In partnership with the community, we incorporate on-the-land education to our school year.

Trips on the land include muskox hunts, ice fishing and fox trapping.

We also hold cultural activities closer to home such as igloo building and storytelling with elders.

Assisted by elders, students of all age groups learn traditional sewing.

Every year, our students win medals for traditional sewing at the Skills Canada NWT regional and territorial competitions.

From junior kindergarden to Grade 9, students learn the local dialect of Inuinnaqtun still spoken fluently by elders in the community.
